HISTORY

We have set up our dental practice on the 6th of June 1991, naming it "A.F. Stomatologie 2D" when we bought our first building in Arad, no.1, Ludovic Szantay str. (former Săvineşti). We have had it completely repaired (repartitioning of the space, modification of the electrical circuits, of the natural lighting system, employment of new appliances, finishing cuts, tiles, box for the biocontaminated medical wastes) at the same time endowing it with the necessary dental equipment, means of communication, furniture, etc. Read more about us...

We have officially opened our first dental practice on the 9th of March 1992, where we have practiced until 30th of March 2002. Since 2002 this dental office has been used by young colleagues until they have founded their own dental practices (dr. Iulian Tîrcă, dr. Nicoleta Anghel, dr. Florin Groza). Now, the dental practice is reserved by dr. Alexandru Todor.

In 1993 we have tooled up our dental practice with a Personal Computer and the necessary accessories. Starting with October 1993 all the patients’ and practice’s medical and financial records were computerized, by using the Stoma PC programme for keeping records, followed by Stoma for Windows programme. Both programmes were designed by ing. Gheorghe Petrov, design to which we participated at as well as beneficiaries and analists. All data is saved weekly on digital support, with the possibility of being consulted by those entitled to, at any time.

Due to the increasing number of patients coming to us for treatments and because of the emerging regulations, required for preparing Romania's EU accession, the first dental practice gradually became insufficient. For these reasons in 1999 we purchased the second building at the same address, found in an advanced state of degradation, which during a year, between March 2001 - March 2002 we have demolished, rebuilt, finished and have arranged to high standards on 3 levels (semi-basement, high ground and attic), all thanks to the professionalism, efficiency and talent of Ion Gârleanu construction engineer.

At the design and construction of the new building a significant personal contribution was brought by: Lucia M. Juşca - architect (architectural design), Ilie Cotor - engineer (geotechnical study), Cziszter Kalman - engineer (technical expertise), Aurelian F. Rogoz –engineer (resistance project), George Ghiţă - engineer (project supervisor) and Antoniu I. David – economist (investment accounting).

This new building complies with all legal regulations of Romania and the E.U, ending in March 30th 2002 when it was opened festively. At the ground floor is arranged the main dental office, waiting room and toilets for the patients and staff. In the semi - basement are all technical annexes necessary from epidemiologic point of view: box for cleaning products, disinfecting room, sterilization room, laundry & dryer room, central heating, water supply tank, water filters, archive, dressing room for the nurses, etc.

In the attic, during 2001 - 2005 has functioned the Headquarters of the Banat Regional Branch of AMSPPR, representative national association, as well as the local secretariat of the AMSPPR president during the 2001-2006 mandate. In 2005, we conducted a second overhaul of our first building (roof, insulation, carpentry, boiler, etc.).

In 2006 we began arranging / decorating for dentistry in the attic space (dressing room for dentists, shower room for dentists, technical box, specific facilities, finishes, furniture, air conditioning, etc.). In 2007 the third dental office in the attic was equipped with all necessary dental equipment. Since 2008 we started to use as needed by our patients, in the extra working hours the third dental office in the attic.

The high quality imagining, designing, building and fitting during 2001 - 2002 of a whole new building with dentistry as exclusive purpose, was a national first in terms of investments in private dentistry.

With our new facilities and dental offices located in the new building we have created a pleasant climate and a friendly environment for all our patients, optimizing all the functional circuits, special working conditions for staff, compliance with existing epidemiological laws, compatibility with good organization and good practices of the European Union dental offices.

For 20 Years with KaVo

The german company KaVo was founded 105 years ago by Kaltenbach and Voigt, becoming gradually after the Second World War european and world leader in dental equipment, somewhat identical to top firms like BMW and Mercedes, including in terms of products prices ...

In 1991 when we arranged our first dental office we equipped like most of our fellow pioneers of dentistry privatization with a Romanian dental unit Dentior 5 made by IOR, quality similarly as Dacia car ... Being aware of the problems of reliability, spare parts and service of this unit , we improved it since the installation ... On our first trip out of the country in the same year, on vacation in Israel, we had "tasted" KaVo quality for the first time buying a KaVo turbine Super Torque 625 D at a truly dizzying price for that time, 800 USD, and this without VAT ...

It was an investment that was worth all the money, installing a separate circuit KaVo (hoses, pressure switch, pressure gauge, foot pedal, etc. ) the turbine operating with a German quality on the initial parameters until we scrapped the IOR unit ... In over 20 years of functioning of the KaVo turbine Super Torque 625 D we changed the rotor only 3 times, so almost at 7 years ... and this on an average of 50 patients / day, for the first 15 years working including saturdays ! This reliability Made in Germany since 1991 seems incredible today for KaVo turbine rotors, on which the warranty has declined in the past 10 years to 6 months ...

Appreciation of KaVo qualities was inevitably compared to the famous unit Romanian Dentior 5, which after the first 2 years of operation had weekly troubles, one day a week becoming randomly ... holidays, awaiting for spare parts and / or service to the desperation of the delayed patients and with the regret for... our neurons prematurely deceased ... Therefore in the spring of 1994 we decided to equip us with a high quality new unit and after market research imports from Romania at that time we decided and bought the unit KaVo Systematica 1069 T that we work with even today.

In the summer of 2014 we are celebrating 20 years of intense activity (about 50 patients / day) on KaVo unit characterized by robustness, quality and reliabilityof a really top German company and truly deserving dominance in world rankings .

Certainly in finding the final price agreed with the importer by providing terminal updated to the last minute ( fiber optic components, push -button, air drye compressor, independent surgical aspiration system, etc.) friends, relatives and collaborators told us that with this sum of 52.000 DEM we could take any luxury sedan in Europe ... We responded that as private dentists we're working more than 14 hours per day on the unit KaVo, while we drive a car just 3-4 hours per week... In addition an expensive car costs inevitably more while a competitive dental unit is a professional equipment by which we can optimize the overall activity of the dental office, also for more quality treatments that otherwise will be difficult to achieve ....

Using the KaVo unit for over 20 years marked some premieres, some pleasant, some unpleasant ...

In a random order list: the first truly private contract negotiated with rights and obligations for both parties, an electronic board of over 1.000 DEM burned because of electric power variations from Enel network, since that we supply each unit with UPS unit sources , regular clogging of KaVo parts with tartar and alluvial deposits from our water network, installing water softening filters and microfiltration for water circuit, cutting of the chair upholstery with sharp objects from the pockets of the patients , etc.

Our experience , based on a large number of patients, showed that the initial choice of a unit like heavy duty was justified, KaVo Systematica being as robust and functional in 2014 as in the first year ...Of course, this was also due to annual revisions, weekly service, daily maintenance by lubrication, maintenance of the upholstery, etc.

Unfortunately the supply in Romania with KaVo spare parts was not improved after EU membership as it was expected, but became even more heavily and incomprehensible ... considering the various contemporary means of ultra fast communication and transport between successive Romanian representations and the mother company from Biberach.

For example, a turbine with a defect rotor it’s handed to the local representative KaVo who sends it to the central company in Bucharest, they send it to the only KaVo authorized service company where it sits on the shelf for a while, is analyzed and given a " diagnosis ", they calculate the cost of spare parts & labor, the client is asked whether to accept the costs, the order is made in Germany , the goods are sent to Bucharest, the part is changed, and it returns to Arad ... all about for two months ...! Much like the 1900 ...! In this Balkan sequencing that has absolutely nothing to do with the free market and the competitive world, in Germany or USA a dental office would be bankrupt or sue KaVo maintenance services ... The current management of KaVo 's service in Romania is not only disastrous but also shameful for the global company which we compared with the BMW or Mercedes ... It is hard to believe that for 4 brake pads or 2 windscreen wipers paid correctly ... you must wait from the two German car manufacturers ... 2 months !

From this lack of efficiency and promptitude of organization of the KaVo Romanian service in repairs and maintenance absolutely normal, suffers not only the dentists who do not have the full capacity operation of the unit but more than 7.500 patients registered to our dental offices to whom we can not start, perform and / or complete the treatments that they need ... We can only hope that the organization of the KaVo Romanian service will get the attention and / or audit of a competent German department to optimize its in line with EU best practice in the year 2014 ...

Therefore, the anniversary of Associated Dental Offices AF Stoma "2D" , "For 20 years with KaVo", high quality German company that brought us professionalism, is overshadowed by concern for poor service of this firm in Romania .
