2012 ANNIVERSARY YEAR
„AF STOMA 2D” 1992 – 2012

      In this spring we celebrated 20 years since the opening of the Associate Dental Offices “AF STOMATOLOGIE 2D" or in an abbreviated form „AF STOMA 2D”. These 20 years can and must be a moment of balance, the summary of conclusions, a look towards the future.
      Even if the administrative setting up of our dental offices has been made in 1991, between the administrative licensing and bureaucratic establishment and improvement and effective opening of 1992 was a difference of a year which meant numerous efforts and investment and they continued on all the years that followed.
      Buildings purchased in 1991 and 2001 were almost ruined, without heating, filled with mold, with vines and ivy reared on the roof, etc. Then followed the succession of the fitting out of the two facilities: in 1991 capital repairs with re-compartmentalized rooms and in 2001 a demolition and a reconstruction on three levels.
      The name of our dental offices was a happy random event. At that time any company register at the Chamber of Commerce and the Register of Commerce. Going there to complete a pile of papers necessary we knew that we will be a family association but we weren’t ready for a name. Being forced to establish a name of the association immediately we thought the number 2 and then to the letter D. The civil clerk amused and who probably had teeth problems asked: "Two pains?” (in Romanian pain translates as Durere). "We answered immediately that we never thought about it but at: 2 David, 2 doctors, 2 dentists".
Here is what would be in a few words the analysis of the 20 years of private practice activity which we celebrate in 2012:
      Prevention: the cheapest and most effective medical specialty and of course in dentistry too from sealing of pits and fissures to   pre-school and school children to the annual regular control of the patients with completed treatments. From the demonstrations of the appropriate dental brushing for all ages and the demonstrative testing of the hygiene efficiency and bacterial plaque to the introduction of the means of modern auxiliary daily dental hygiene (dental floss, periodontal brushes, dental floss for bridges, etc.)
      Removal of infected teeth: chronic dental diseases were all the time in the center of attention, from the treatment of healthy roots to the removal of irreparable teeth and the elimination of the oral infection with echoes in some general diseases. We are convinced that all of this we have made a contribution to a better general health of our patients.
      Emergency dentistry: were solved without appointment after a simple phone call or by coming to the dental office as much for our patients, for people recommended by our patients or for new cases, most of them remaining as permanent patients for small or complex treatments.
      Restoring of the lost functions: was carried out in a holistic way, within limits imposed by each patient, with a view to simultaneously improving mastication, esthetic, physiognomy, etc. even if some patients have specifically requested (only for restoring affected functions related with immediate requirements of age or occupation).
      Cooperation with dental technicians: those well prepared, talented, flexible, responsible for their provided prosthetic works, sympathetic with the patients needs (color, special shapes, etc).
      Hiring of the medical nurses: the professional ones, devoted to the profession, careful with patients, with knowledge of the specific legislation in the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, regarding compulsory legal forms of records, etc.
      Interdisciplinary approach of the treatments by working with dental specialists from different fields (orthodontics, oral surgery, implants, endodontic, periodonthics, microscopy, etc.) with their professional approach we were able to add more quality and safety to our patients with special problems.
      Knowledge and application up to date of legislation related to medical office applied in its dealings with patients, collaborators, third parties, in order to create a climate of trust and security in relations with the competent Romanian authorities from different domains: medical, professional, financial, security in work, protection of environment, etc.
      Regular updating of theoretical and practical knowledge through participation in over 100 congresses, conferences and symposiums, lectures, in the country and abroad, optional participations in the first ten years of work and then mandatory overcoming the necessary annual number of hours of continual education.
      The partnership with suppliers of materials and equipment, serious, with tradition, which could ensure a steady supply with classic materials as well as with the new better ones which have brought an extra quality on performed treatments.
               
      The entire context synthetically described above has led a high degree of satisfaction of our patients, many of them treated in the ‘80 during the first years of practice in  Arad and afterward, returning for treatments after we opened our dental office in 1992.
      The sadness that some old patients, with treatments completed are not anymore on this world, sometimes shortly after ending the restorations, was replaced by the joy that the young patients from yesterday now come to our dental office as parents, with children having a good oral hygiene education.
      After 20 years, in 2012 we can say that all our efforts were worth it, the successful treatments of many patients brought us countless professional and moral satisfactions. In this anniversary year we will be recording in our records the patient with number 7.000.
      After 20 years of practicing in private dentistry, you have to gaze a little into the future: we are sure that the gained experience and continuous training in conjugation with continued investment in cutting-edge technologies will strengthen and enlarge the quality of treatment, for the satisfaction of Associate Dental Offices "2D" patients.
